Carnival: Tampa’s Longest-Running Line

Carnival has sailed year-round from Tampa for three decades, and it remains the port’s biggest presence. Carnival Paradise is a Fantasy-class ship — mid-size by today’s standards, with the line’s classic fun-ship feel. Its announced 2026–27 destinations include Cozumel, Mahogany Bay (Roatan), Belize, Grand Cayman and Bahamas ports.

Carnival Legend joins for the winter with longer Western Caribbean voyages. Carnival has also announced that Carnival Spirit will be based in Tampa for the 2027–28 season.

Margaritaville at Sea Islander

Margaritaville at Sea, the island-music cruise brand that also sails from Palm Beach, bases its ship Islander in Tampa year-round. Its 4-night Cozumel trips and 5-night combinations of Key West, Progreso and Cozumel are some of the shortest, simplest ways to reach Mexico from Florida, and the line has announced longer 2027 voyages including a 7-night Key West and Mexico itinerary.

Picking a Line and a Length

  • 4 to 5 nights: one or two ports — usually Cozumel, Progreso or Key West. Great for a first cruise.
  • 6 to 7 nights: the classic Western Caribbean loop, e.g. Roatan, Belize and Cozumel, or Grand Cayman and Cozumel.
  • 8 nights and up: winter-season voyages that add the Panama Canal area or the Southern Caribbean.
  • Families often choose Carnival; couples wanting quieter, premium service look at Celebrity; groups of friends love the Margaritaville vibe. See Family Group Cruises for multi-generation trips.
